چکیده

Background Arterial distensibility can be measured non-invasively by cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in various arterial territories. However, no information is available comparing distensibility in different anatomical territories in individual patients. Therefore, we sought to compare CMR measurements of the distensibility of the coronary and carotid artery, and ascending aorta (AA) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM).

Background and Aim: Despite previously shown relationship between the aortic atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease, the relationship between aortic distensibility and the presence, extent and composition of thoracic aortic plaques (TAP) is not widely assessed. We evaluated the relationship between aortic distensibility and the presence, extent and composition of TAP in current research. ...

Multimodal cardiovascular magnetic resonance quantifies regional variation in vascular structure and function in patients with coronary artery disease: Relationships with coronary disease severity

BACKGROUND Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) of the vessel wall is highly reproducible and can evaluate both changes in plaque burden and composition. It can also measure aortic compliance and endothelial function in a single integrated examination. Previous studies have focused on patients with pre-identified carotid atheroma. We define these vascular parameters in patients presenting wi...

Magnetic resonance assessment of aortic pulse wave velocity, aortic distensibility, and cardiac function in uncomplicated type 2 diabetes mellitus.

BACKGROUND Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) may augment arterial stiffening and thereby modulates left ventricular (LV) function. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is well suited to assess aortic pulse wave velocity (PWV) and aortic distensibility, both markers of arterial stiffness, without the use of geometric assumptions. Furthermore, CMR is a reliable method for assessing left ventricul...

Relationship between coronary risk factors and the number of involved vessels in coronary angiography

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and cigarette smoking are major coronary artery disease risk factors. This study was performed to detect the correlation between major coronary risk factors and the number of diseased vessels in coronary angiography. Methods: This descriptive study was performed on 196 patients with coronary artery disease who underwent coronary ang...

Right coronary wall cmr in the older asymptomatic advance cohort: positive remodeling and associations with type 2 diabetes and coronary calcium

BACKGROUND Coronary wall cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is a promising noninvasive approach to assess subclinical atherosclerosis, but data are limited in subjects over 60 years old, who are at increased risk. The purpose of the study was to evaluate coronary wall CMR in an asymptomatic older cohort. RESULTS Cross-sectional images of the proximal right coronary artery (RCA) were acqu...
